Abstract:
All discussions of price in the logistics industry soon turn to the subject of market prices. Prices seem to be subjects of many external factors however still they can be managed. The lecture will give insights on how smart logistics companies do pricing and revenue management and which management tools and decision help to raise prices effectively.
It will discuss the following topics:
• Systematic analysis and optimization of standard tariffs
• Setting of customer specific prices
• Challenge and optimization of the revenue model
• Monitoring of customer and price developments
Biography:
Dr. Philipp Biermann is a Partner in the Competence Center "Transport & Logistics" at Simon-Kucher & Partners in Cologne (Germany), a management consultancy with 23 offices in 17 countries. Over the last 25 years Simon-Kucher & Partners has helped hundreds of clients around the world address their strategic
and marketing challenges. They focus on Smart Profit GrowthSM by helping clients boost their top-line instead of cutting costs.
Dr. Biermann has ten years of experience in the marketing and sales arena. Prior to joining Simon-Kucher & Partners he had already worked as a Management Consultant, Trainer and Lecturer in Germany and Switzerland.
Dr. Biermann specializes in the field of Sales and Price Management in the Telecommunication and Logistics industry. Logistics clients he has worked for include forwarders, carriers, CEP and postal companies like Canada Post, DHL, DB Schenker, Hellmann, Lufthansa, Swiss Post, TFG/Deutsche Bahn, among others. He led projects for air and sea freight, rail and road transportation and postal/CEP carriers on three different continents.
Dr. Biermann studied Business Administration majoring in Marketing and Finance at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) from 1994 to 1999. After working as a teaching and research assistant at the Institute for Marketing he finalized his doctoral degree (Ph.D.), which dealt with marketing and sales topics in a Business-to-Business context.
Dr. Biermann has published several articles on marketing and is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars. Recent appearances include Germany, Austria, Poland, Singapore and South Africa. He also serves as guest lecturer at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
