Abstract
Ramón's research concerns the decarbonization of road freight transport suppliers. Large buyers are now pressured to reduce their emissions, and usually, most of their transport emissions are emitted by their road freight transport suppliers. Those suppliers are primarily small and medium-sized companies with limited resources to decarbonize their operations. Therefore, effective supplier governance is crucial for improving supply chain sustainability. However, buyers are not willing to financially support unsubstantial sustainability promises. Thus, Ramón's research aims to explore when, how, and for which suppliers’ sustainability measures buyers provide support to their road freight transport suppliers to eventually achieve sustainability improvements.
Bio
Ramón is a PhD candidate in the field of transport decarbonization at Kühne Logistics University, supervised by Prof. Dr. Moritz Petersen and Prof. Dr. Maria Besiou. Ramón received his Master's degree from Kühne Logistics University in 2022. In his thesis, he studied the challenges of carbon accounting of transport emissions and built a decision model for shippers to determine the required data granularity in carbon accounting. Before joining the KLU in 2020, Ramón completed his Bachelor's degree in Logistics Management with a specialization in transport management at Jade University of Applied Sciences. In addition to his studies, he worked as a student assistant at the Center for Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains and gained multiple practical experiences in the field of logistics and supply chain management during internships in the retail industry.
