Brief description
A recent study for the World Bank showed a shortage of people with the right skills to meet the needs of the logistics industry. A series of recommendations to governments wishing to raise the level of logistics skills in their countries was made. This research project aims to develop a toolkit that governments can use to (1) assess the availability of logistics skills, certifications and training in their countries and (2) find out how to deal with logistics skill shortages.
Project purpose
In a recent study conducted for the World Bank, mounting evidence was found that there is a global shortage of people with the right competences and skills to meet the needs of the logistics industry. These skill shortages extend from a lack of truck drivers to problems in filling senior supply chain management posts. The current research project aims at converting the study's findings into an operational toolkit that governments can use to easily assess the nature and scale of logistics skills shortages in their contries. The toolkit provides more specific guidance on the measures that they can take to address this problem.
