Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR)

Prof. Dr. Gordon Wilmsmeier (Kühne Logistics University - KLU)

Funded by World Bank

Brief description

The Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR) analyzes how a country’s development goals can be achieved in the context of mitigating and/or adapting to climate change. This project, funded by the World Bank, is to prepare a standardized and transferable methodology and guidelines to identify, quantify, cost, and prioritize the mitigation and adaptation measures in a country’s port or ports as an input to a Country Climate and Development Report.

Project purpose

The Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR) is intended to help identify opportunities for climate action by the public and the private sector, so that each country’s development goals can be achieved in the context of sustainability. The objective and focus of the CCDR is to capture the interplay between green, resilient and inclusive development, countries development goals, and climate change, in the context of the Paris Agreement and the WB’s commitment to align its portfolio to its objectives. The CCDR analyzes how the country’s development goals can be achieved in the context of mitigating and/or adapting to climate change. It also considers and reflects the country´s commitments as embedded in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) or longer-term domestic and international climate commitments and identify ways to support implementation through public and private sector solutions. The CCDR explains how climate change is a threat to human capital outcomes and how human capital will also be critical to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and allow for successful adaptation. This project will prioritize the mitigation and adaptation measures in a country’s port or ports as an input to a Country Climate and Development Report.
