Ramón van Almsick is a PhD candidate in the fields of transport decarbonization at Kühne Logistics University, supervised by Prof. Dr. Moritz Petersen and Prof. Dr. Maria Besiou. In his research, he studies opportunities and challenges in collaboration in decarbonizing the transport chain. In particular, the small and medium-sized enterprise nature of the transport sector is taken into account.
Ramón received his Master's degree from Kühne Logistics University in 2022. In his thesis, he studied the challenges of carbon accounting of transport emissions and built a decision model for shippers to determine the required data granularity in carbon accounting. Before joining the KLU in 2020, Ramón completed his Bachelor's degree in Logistics Management with a specialization in transport management at Jade University of Applied Sciences. During his studies, he spent semesters abroad in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, at the Nelson Mandela University and in Gothenburg, Sweden, at Chalmers University of Technology.
In addition to his studies, he worked as a student assistant at the Center for Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains and gained multiple practical experiences in the field of logistics and supply chain management during internships in the retail industry.
