Your Semester Abroad

Studying abroad is your ticket to a whole new world! It’s not just about hitting the books in a different country — it’s about stepping into a completely fresh way of living. You’ll meet new people, experience diverse cultures firsthand, and embrace the kind of independence that sets you apart.

An exchange semester supercharges your personal growth, while also giving your academic and professional life a serious boost. You’ll build a global network, gain new perspectives in your field, and develop those all-important intercultural communication skills that today’s employers love.

Plus, mastering a new language doesn’t hurt! At KLU, we partner with nearly 100 top universities worldwide (have a look here), ensuring you get the best opportunities for both personal and career growth. It’s a life-changing, CV-enhancing adventure that will open doors you never even knew existed!

At KLU, all bachelor students spend an exchange semester at one of our partner universities - it's a fixed part of your studies and a core part of your journey with KLU! For master’s students in the standard track, the third semester abroad is optional, but we make it easy and convenient for those who choose to go.

Student Stories from Around the World

OSU being a superlative in college sports, you can also go to most sports games for free. I have already been to two ice hockey games (the experience is amazing) and I’ll soon witness a true college basketball rivalry: Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan Wolverines.

You’ll also be able to attend really fun classes, for example, chocolate science, barbeque science, and even “Magic and Witchcraft in the Middle Ages and Renaissance” (the Harry Potter books may be a mandatory reading…).

I am Faina and I am doing my semester abroad in Budapest, Hungary, at the Budapest Business school. Budapest is a great city for students - there are many opportunities for cultural and social activities that are accessible to students. The city’s relaxed, laid-back vibe makes it a great place to live and study.

Over a month ago, I started my Erasmus semester abroad at Audencia Business School in beautiful Nantes, France. It's a stunning city with lots of green areas, various sights to visit, and parks to discover. Studying here takes a slightly different approach than at KLU, including multiple opportunities to engage with other students in group projects or work on case studies.

At TEC in Mexico City the professors are often visiting professors that work at the same time, which means they give us many insights about real life business practices. The sport culture is similar to college sport in the US: Tec has representative teams, and many students gather to watch games, which is a really fun activity.

Federico De Ponte, BSc Business Administration, Class of 2023

I've decided to go to Peru simply to take on the chance of exploring a completely new country. I not only wanted to develop myself academically but also personally by stepping out of my comfort zone and leaving the continent. Improving my Spanish skills during my stay is a nice side effect.

Johanna Schönfeld, BSc Business Administration, Class of 2023

My absolute highlight was when I returned from the Easter break and my first class in the morning was "Wine Management". Although some had a Finance exam afterwards, we all did a Wine Tasting together haha - at 8 am!!!!! The time abroad in Bordeaux enabled me to improve my school French, develop academically and personally and I will always happily look back on this highlight during my studies at KLU.

Pauline Zweihaus, BSc Business Administration, Class of 2023

Tel-Aviv is a very young city with open-minded people and almost all of them speak good English, so it’s easy to get in contact with other people. We also went on a trip together to the neighboring country of Jordan, where we visited one of the wonders of the world Petra and slept in a tent in the desert!

David Becker, MSc Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Class of 2023

The city of Budapest has everything you can ask for, from a great study program to a wonderful Erasmus group and great nightlife. The university offers a great program for international students with 2 to 5 events per week.

Cara Tietje, BSc Business Administration, Class of 2023

Audencia was a change, considering the overall number of students and larger classes, but also the possibilities of joining student associations and events. As of my first week, I joined the university's own soccer team and got to participate in several tournaments between universities all over the north of France. This was a great opportunity for me to be confronted with the "real" French slang and get to know the French culture especially around sports.

Julia Harbarth, BSc Business Administration, Class of 2023

I chose Thessaloniki because of the Erasmus Networking; it is a magical experience in which you cross paths with hundreds of Erasmus students from all over the world. There is always something to do, either a trip, activity, or party.

Paula Mendez, BSc Business Administration, Class of 2024

I had the opportunity to do my semester abroad in Budapest, Hungary at BME University. I have the best views from my university! I see the Danube River, which separates Buda from Pest. I am enjoying Budapest a lot, it is such an amazing experience. I am tasting traditional dishes like goulash soup and some paprika. I am also obsessed with chimney cake! One thing that I am very happy about is the sun. The sun shines here every day.

Sara Rodriguez, BSc Business Administration, Class of 2024

I am spending my semester abroad in Concepción, Chile, at the Universidad del Desarrollo. The university offers many extracurricular activities like volunteering, sports, and leadership programs. If you love traveling and want to go on many adventures during your semester abroad, I highly recommend choosing Chile! It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Lyn Hartje, BSc Business Administration, Class of 2024

My exchange semester in Reykjavík, Iceland, was an unforgettable experience. The rugged beauty of Iceland's landscapes - its glaciers, volcanoes, and waterfalls - was breathtaking, even in the face of the often harsh weather. Studying in Iceland was a great adventure amidst some of the world’s most incredible scenery.
