Valentina Munoz Bernal

Valentina Muñoz Bernal is a PhD student and researcher at Kühne Logistics University (KLU) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mojtaba Salem. She is part of the Center for Humanitarian Logistics and Regional Development (CHORD). She holds a Master of Global Affairs with a concentration in Sustainable Development from the University of Notre Dame, as well as bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Political Science from the National University of Colombia.

At the University of Notre Dame, Valentina worked as a research assistant with the Pulte Institute for Global Development and the Kellogg Institute for International Studies. She also served as a graduate consultant for the Fund for Peace and the Center for Amazonian Scientific Innovation (CINCIA). Beyond academia, she has more than five years of professional experience in NGOs and consultancy groups, focusing on business and human rights, sustainability, corporate accountability, and environmental defenders.

In her current role, Valentina leads a joint research project with Airlink that explores the role of free-to-user transportation services in optimizing humanitarian logistics. She is a recipient of the Rev. Robert Pelton, C.S.C. Fellowship at the Kellogg Institute, which awards full scholarships to master’s students, as well as the Keough School Launch Award for a research fellowship with the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre.
