Deutschlandstipendium

 Information for Donors

At KLU, we see every day how the Deutschlandstipendium opens doors for outstanding students. It gives them the freedom to focus on their studies, contribute to our community, and pursue opportunities that might otherwise remain out of reach. With a tax-deductible donation of €1,800, doubled by public funding, you can support one student for a full year and become part of a meaningful public-private partnership. I invite you to stand with us and make a lasting difference for ambitious young talent at KLU.

Experiences From Our Scholarship Holders

In this video, KLU students share how the Deutschlandstipendium has supported their studies, created new opportunities, and made a meaningful difference in their academic and personal development.

Beyond financial support, the Deutschlandstipendium also opens doors to new opportunities, valuable connections, and personal growth.

The Deutschlandstipendium has been a meaningful support throughout my studies, both practically and personally. It gives me the freedom to fully commit to my studies while still being able to grow in competitive sports and lay the financial foundation for my upcoming semester abroad in Paris. But that is only part of it – what matters to me just as much is the recognition that comes with it: knowing that academic work and personal engagement are seen and worth investing in. It is exactly this combination of freedom and recognition that continues to motivate me, pushing myself further in growing both academically and personally.

Thanks to the Deutschlandstipendium, I was able to focus entirely on my studies. The financial aid allowed me to take the time to dive much deeper into my bachelor’s thesis research. Furthermore, the funding supported me tremendously during my semester abroad in Athens and freed up valuable time to engage in impactful extracurriculars like the KLU Women in Business Club and Advisupply e.V. This generous support truly gives me a daily motivation to push further. And beyond the financial relief, this scholarship has connected me with a vibrant network of highly motivated students from diverse fields across Hamburg, which is always super interesting and inspiring!

Thanks to the funds provided by the Deutschlandstipendium, I was able to enjoy different experiences on my Erasmus semester in Vienna to the fullest, but also to cover daily expenses and start planning for my future after KLU. For me, the Deutschlandstipendium is a recognition from KLU and German society of what I've accomplished here so far and the potential of what I can achieve. Such mechanisms serve as an encouragement to recipients to keep developing themselves and contributing to society positively. Therefore, any company or individual that chooses to contribute to the Deutschlandstipendium is making a seemingly small but actually incredibly meaningful contribution to not just the future of a few promising students, but to the future of Germany.

The Deutschlandstipendium gave me the chance to fully dedicate myself to my studies and have time available for impactful extracurriculars, like assisting at an animal shelter and being a student ambassador. With this scholarship, I have the financial support to pursue my ambitions with total focus. Being awarded this privilege gave me a strong sense of accountability that motivated me daily. I believe that this support fosters growth both academically and socially. By investing in this fund, companies do more than finance education. They directly empower passionate talent that is already actively shaping their communities with dedication and purpose.

Receiving the Deutschlandstipendium gave me something especially valuable: room to grow. It allowed me to focus on my studies with greater peace of mind while still making the most of university life beyond the classroom. Through KLU SPARK, helping organize TEDxKLU Hamburg, and spending time with my groupmates, I built stronger connections and became more involved in the KLU community. I am deeply grateful for the confidence, freedom, and opportunities this support gave me.

There's something about getting the Deutschlandstipendium that stuck with me more than I thought it would. It made me feel like I belonged here, like my work mattered and that gave me the push to get more involved, whether that was co-organizing DisruptHR Hamburg or further developing the Women in Business Club. I think that's the real value of it: not just what it gave me, but who it helped me become.

Minimum Effort, Maximum Impact – FAQ for Donors:

The Deutschlandstipendium operates on a public-private partnership (PPP) funding model. The maximum amount per scholarship and academic year comes to a total of 3,600€ -- 1,800€ from private and 1,800€ from public funding.

Your support goes to students who demonstrate both academic excellence as well as a high level of social engagement.

The Deutschlandstipendium helps students in need of financial assistance in order to better cope with the high costs of living in Hamburg. It has been our experience that especially international students benefit from this support. There have also been cases where the scholarship has aided in purchasing expensive academic literature, participating in summer schools, or attending conferences.

With the combined support of your donation and that of the federal government, recipients are in a much better position to achieve their academic goals.

One unique facet of this scholarship is that recipients of the Deutschlandstipendium benefit from a new flow of extramural contacts provided by their supporters. They gain access to a variety of career networks in economics, science, and society in Germany which may have otherwise been unattainable to them.

Yes, this is possible. This would mean that one 1,800€ scholarship would consist of contributions from several separate donors.

Whether it’s 50, 100 or 500€, we are extremely grateful for each euro we receive and ensure that all incoming donations will be awarded solely and directly to the recipients.

Each euro donated will be doubled by the federal government.
