KLU Promotes Sustainability at Green Economy Forum & Exhibition 2024

Kühne Logistics University (KLU) demonstrated its commitment to sustainability at the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition (GEFE) 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. By highlighting sustainable logistics researchand sponsoring the KLU Future Sustainability Leaders Award in the GEFE 2024 Business Challenge, KLU emphasized its support for future leaders. KLU President Andreas Kaplan, Prof. Dr. Arne Heinold, and Vietnam Campus Director Dr. Viet Dung Trinh engaged with experts and students, reinforcing KLU’s expanding impact on Southeast Asia’s sustainability landscape.

Organized by EuroCham Vietnam, GEFE 2024 stands as a premier event to advance sustainability in Asia, focusing on essential themes such as the circular economy, decarbonization, and digital innovation in sustainability.

KLU's participation highlighted its commitment to sustainability and supply chain innovation, particularly within Southeast Asia. The university showcased its latest research and educational tools through a dedicated booth. A central feature was “Business on the Move: The Humanitarian Edition,” a strategic simulation board game that demonstrates logistics’ crucial role in disaster response and humanitarian missions. Attendees at the booth actively engaged with the game, gaining insight into the logistics challenges faced in emergency scenarios.

As a special highlight, the EU Ambassador to Vietnam, Julien Guerrier, visited KLU’s booth and took pictures with mascot “Labubu” and had a chat with KLU Prof. Arne Heinold, who was also part of a panel discussion later on.

Spotlight on Student Engagement: Business Challenge and Future Leaders Award

For the first time, KLU also awarded the Kühne Logistics University (KLU) – Future Sustainability Leaders Award. As part of the GEFE 2024 Business Challenge, held on Student Day, October 23. This highly anticipated contest drew diverse teams of students who presented innovative solutions to real-world sustainability challenges. The winning team, Odyssey, was awarded a fully funded spot at KLU’s upcoming Summer School in Sustainability in 2025. Additional recognitions went to teams MVP, Greenify, The Conqueror, The Eco Avengers, and Green Planet for their outstanding contributions.

KLU’s representatives were thrilled by the positive response from the Vietnamese audience. The welcoming event atmosphere and participant enthusiasm highlight the potential for a lasting partnership with Vietnam. Over three days of conferences, exhibitions, and B2B matchmaking, GEFE 2024 advanced a strong agenda for sustainable solutions. As KLU grows in Southeast Asia, its participation in GEFE underscores its commitment to global sustainability education and future leadership empowerment.
