Maximilian Harms

PhD Candidate

Maximilian Harms joined the Kühne Logistics University in January 2025 as a PhD student in the field of Data Science and Business Intelligence under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Henrik Leopold. His research is focused on the application of process mining and digital twin technologies in the context of warehouses. In cooperation with the Arvato team, warehouse processes will be analysed using process mining and automated through the development of AI-based solutions. He will use digital twins to create virtual replicas of physical warehouses, enabling real-time simulation and optimisation of warehouse layouts and processes.

Maximilian completed his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics with a specialisation in Process Mining at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in 2023. In his master thesis, he developed an approach to extract event logs for process mining from IoT sensor data. Furthermore, Maximilian gained several practical experiences in the field of process mining and data management during his work as a research assistant and PhD student at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein and Universität Bayreuth.
