KLU Professor Dr. Alan McKinnon Receives Honorary Doctorate from Tampere University

Professor Dr. Alan McKinnon, honorary senator and professor of logistics at KLU, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Tampere University in Finland.

Professor Alan C. McKinnon

The honorary degree was granted “in recognition of the development of research and education in sustainable logistics and supply chain management.” Professor McKinnon was one of thirteen honorary doctors selected from Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Italy, the UK, and the US — making the event both a scientific celebration and the gathering of an international academic community.

The program included not only the official conferment ceremony, but also a procession through the city, a service in Tampere cathedral, a formal banquet, and a boat trip to Viikinsaari Island for a lakeside lunch. Guests had the opportunity to enjoy nature, celebrate with family and friends, and build new connections with colleagues from around the world.

Prof. McKinnon’s work continues to influence both academic discourse and real-world practices in logistics – reinforcing KLU’s role as a global leader in sustainable supply chain education and research.

We warmly congratulate Professor McKinnon on this well-deserved honor and are proud to have him as part of the KLU community.
