Inclusivity on the Move
KLU proudly took part in the HafenCity Run 2025, with nearly 40 enthusiastic participants from our students, staff, faculty, and alumni network. From the first stride to the final high-five, Team KLU brought energy, heart, and unity to one of Hamburg’s most iconic charity runs. This year, for the first time, KLU was also host of the inclusive “Hochschul Hub”.

Hosting the Hochschul-Hub
This year, we were especially honored to host the inclusive Hochschul-Hub — a dynamic meeting space for runners and guests from partner universities and organizations. Our HafenCity campus has been transformed into a welcoming hub of exchange, connection, and community.
Under the inspiring motto “Bewegung und Begegnung inklusiv” — which means “movement and connection, inclusively” — the day became much more than a sporting event. It was a vibrant celebration of inclusion, diversity, and academic collaboration, where meaningful conversations, shared goals, and new friendships took shape.
A special thank you to the partners and supporters of the Hochschul-Hub, including Hans-Jürg Schulke & Julian Straub (Macromedia University of Applied Sciences), Brücken für Kinder e.V., Leben mit Behinderung Hamburg Sozialeinrichtungen gGmbH, Sozialkontor, KIDS e.V., the fantastic band “Rosi und die Knallerbsen” (Lebenshilfe Schenefeld)

What is the HafenCity Run?
The HafenCity Run combines sports, team spirit, and social commitment in one inclusive event. Set in the middle of Hamburg’s modern waterfront districts, the 4-kilometer route encourages participation over competition — there’s no timekeeping or race pressure, just a shared experience for a good cause.
KLU has proudly participated in the HafenCity Run a few times now, and each time it has proven to be a joyful and memorable experience for everyone involved.
