Session 1 provides an in-depth understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks, with a focus on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), which will soon become mandatory for most companies operating in the European Union. The session outlines the role these frameworks play in promoting transparency and accountability in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.

Session 2 examines the benefits and concerns associated with adopting sustainability reporting standards. It addresses the concept of double materiality and its significance in sustainability reporting. Additionally, the session explores the challenges of integrating sustainability information with traditional financial reporting.

Session 3 emphasizes the “hard skills” in accounting for and managing CO2 emissions. It provides an overview of accounting frameworks, calculation techniques, and footprint simulations. Participants also analyze the financial aspects of CO2 accounting and investigate the implementation challenges of carbon reporting.

Through an interactive simulation, they learn how reducing corporate emissions can align with business performance objectives. Participants also experience the complexities of managerial decision-making, particularly in selecting effective emission reduction strategies.

Session 6 outlines the fundamentals of corporate governance, focusing on regulatory diversity, multiple stakeholder demands, uncertainties, and capacity challenges. It discusses integrated reporting and key performance indicators (KPIs) within sustainable enterprises. Drawing on experiences from implementing Science-Based Targets (SBTi) and designing double-materiality matrices, participants identifies challenges and opportunities in sustainable governance.

Session 7 allows participants to adopt the perspective of investors and owners as they are introduced to the field of sustainable finance. The session covers topics such as the definition of sustainable finance, the financial benefits of sustainable practices, the various strategies pursued by sustainable investors, and the business case for sustainability.

Session 8 provides an overview of ESG ratings and data providers, delving into their methodologies for developing questionnaires and data collection. The session also discusses the divergence among ESG ratings and its implications for investors and capital markets. Additionally, participants explore B-Corporations, including the B-Corp rating and certification system, to understand the distinctions between ESG and B-Corp ratings.

Session 9 focuses on emerging trends and future topics in sustainable governance. Participants learn how to design and implement a supply chain compliance strategy and integrate it into existing governance systems. The session also addresses the future of compliance, regulations, and governance.

The last session 10 centers on the concept of “impact.” Participants gain an understanding of different perspectives on impact, the distinction between impact investing and sustainable finance, and the motivations driving individuals and firms to become impact investors. The session also covers methods for assessing and evaluating the achievement of positive sustainability impacts.
