Philipp Zoche began his studies as a PhD candidate at the KLU in September 2025 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Maria Besiou. His research focuses on humanitarian logistics, applying System Dynamics to model the complexities of relief chains. He holds a M.Sc. in Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management and a B.Sc. in International Business with a Major in Supply Chain Management.
As part of his studies, Philipp spent a semester abroad at Trinity College Dublin, and later at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden.
During his time as Research Assistant with Prof. Dr. Maria Besiou, Philipp developed a conceptual framework for horizontal decentralization in humanitarian logistics. Building on this work, his master’s thesis employed System Dynamics modeling to examine how centralized, decentralized, and hybrid governmental structures influence disaster response. Beyond academia, Philipp gained industry experience through several internships in the logistics and automotive sectors, focusing on procurement and sustainability.
