Course objectives
This course will enable the students to:
(1) identify the various challenges that arise from data sources and methodologies based on existing research papers,
(2) critically examine the multiple challenges of quantitative research and evaluate possible solutions,
(3) generalize the findings and extend their application to different research settings, and
(4) demonstrate effective oral and written communication appropriate for an academic audience.
The course is interactive, with doctoral students actively presenting certain topics that are then discussed thoroughly afterwards. The participants must review the literature and prepare presentations.
Course Content
The course is taught over four days, covering eight different methodological areas related to the challenges that come with quantitative research. The students explore the methods using exemplary
research papers from KLU faculty. Each topic addresses a different quantitative research method and
offers detailed insights from various data sources and the corresponding quantitative techniques used
to analyze the data.
Grades and ECTS
The course will provide 5 ECTS to each participant who attended all days of the course.
Preparing for the Course
Graduate-level understanding of statistics and econometrics is a requirement to participate.
